Q: How I do begin my Sisterlocks journey?
A: The Sisterlocks process will get underway in three visits.
First, you will need to send a picture of your hair on our WhatsApp number +447857187089. Your hair needs to be in its natural state and open, that is, not in braids or cornrows.
When we determine that your length is ideal for Sisterlocks, you will proceed to book an online consultation appointment here. The consultation appointment takes about half an hour at £30. Be on time.
During the appointment, we will get to know each other. We will also get to see your hair characteristics, that is, your hair length, density and curl pattern. We will discuss any questions or concerns that you may have.
Once we agree on a Sisterlocks establishment date, and you pay a £100 deposit, you will receive your Sisterlocks starter kit that comes with instructions on how to wash and take care of your new locks. A Sisterlocks starter shampoo is included in the starter kit. Use the shampoo to wash your hair in the morning of your installation day.
After your consultation, the installation process can begin. This can take anywhere from 12-20 hours spread across 2-3 days, depending on the length and density of your hair.
Arrive on time. Come with clean hair and a mask. You will need to wash your hair with the starter shampoo you received in the starter kit during your consultation appointment. Wash the night before or the morning of the installation day.
Come with anything to make your long day enjoyable. We have Wi-Fi and music. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, warm and cold water will be available. Come with packed lunch and snacks. I have a microwave if you need anything to be warmed or you can order food. We also break for lunch for about an hour where you can go somewhere local to enjoy your lunch.
You can bring a book and a neck pillow. In ear headphones are ideal if you want to watch anything from your phone or iPad.
If you get here early and need a cup of tea or coffee, there is a café onsite. If you need to use the toilets, they are open. Just ask anyone onsite and they will show you where the facilities are.
Free parking is available.
After your installation, we do recommend you to a loctician near you. Unfortunately we do not have capacity to take on regular clients for retightening but we are happy to start you off on your Sisterlocks journey.
After the establishment, You will need to attended a follow-up appointment 4 weeks after so that your loctician can assess your newly installed Sisterlocks. The maintenance of Sisterlocks requires a retightening every 4-6 weeks, which we teach you to do once your locks mature or after about 6 months.
If you wish to save money in the long run and prefer to maintain your own hair or if you have someone in your household who is happy to help you to retighten the new growth, we will be happy to guide you on that. If you have a busy lifestyle and you wish to save time, we can recommend a loctician to help you in maintenance after your installation.
Sisterlocks require retightening every 4-6 weeks. You will need to book your appointment date with your loctician in advance to keep within the schedule.
On average, regular retightening appointments take about 3 hours or more and cost about £80 or more. The time and cost may vary depending on how you take care of your locks in between appointments, the number of weeks since your last appointment , the texture of your hair and the rate of growth of your hair.
