My Journey with Locs
My journey with locs began with traditional locs 11 years ago. I enjoyed the locs for 3 years before I combed them out and transitioned to Sisterlocks. I have had sisterlocks for 8 years. I have since loved and embraced the beauty and versatility of my natural hair texture.
Why I Chose To Become a Loctician
My own experience with both traditional locks, (dreadlocks) and Sisterlocks led me to discover a profound sense of hair freedom. This inspired me to offer services that empower women with tight-textured hair to explore a variety of hairstyles while preserving their hair’s natural integrity.
The Locplace Salon
I started The Locplace Salon in Manchester, UK Where I lived for 10years and The Locplace Nairobi, Kenya where I now live. I work with trained locticians. We specialize in Sisterlocks, Microlocks and Dreadlocks Establishments, Retightening and Repair services. We have created a space that celebrates natural hair care both in Kenya and in the UK . Background and Inspiration
With a background in Economics and Business, and a passion for teaching, I embarked on this journey to blend personal fulfillment with professional autonomy. Training with the Sisterlocks company in 2016 in London, UK was the start of a new chapter, leading to the establishment of The Locplace Salon.
Future Aspirations
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue offering loc services with a focus on maintaining a personal touch and professional excellence, We are launching a mentorship program to inspire clients and Locticians in the natural hair care industry. We have a Community of Sisters with locs or those looking to start their lock journey in our facebook group Sisterlocks and Microlocks Sisters Join our community as we enjoy the loc journey together. We also have and a community of Locticians in our facebook group Microlocks Locticians’ Support group. For locticians who offer Microlocks or Locticians interested in training to offer professional locs services.
I believe in authenticity, kindness, and the golden rule: treating others as I’d like to be treated.
Beyond the Chair
Outside of my professional life, I find joy in spending quality time with my family and friends, I enjoy listening to music and I love swimming, allowing me to enjoy my locs to the fullest as the locs love water. I love to do things that add balance and creativity to my life.
